THE NORM DETERMINATION AND VALIDITY-RELIABILITY STUDIES OF CLOCK DRAWING TEST ON TURKISH ADULTS AND ELDERLYS (AGES 50 AND OVER)

Aim: The main purpose of this study, a test of Clock Drawing (CDT), classified also as a neuropsychological device is made suitable and standardize for Turkish adults and/or elderlys. The screening test is called Clock Drawing (4 point scoring method) measured to executive functions like planning, organization, reconstruction.

Materials and Methods: The standardization study was carried on 404 participants (204 female and 200 male). The 50 and over year old participants from state and private institutions or retired this instutions. The research design of standardization study involved age (7 levels), sex (2 levels) and education (3 levels).

Results: ANOVA revealed a significant main effect of age and education and interection effect of age and education. Test-retest reliability of the total score of CDT was found .88, inter-rater reliability was found .74. 20 were diagnosed to be Alzheimer type dementia (ATD) and 20 were evaluated as normal controls. The CDT scores were analysed by age groups for conguirent validity.

Conclusion: This study provides normative data for a psychometric tool that reliably measures the executive functions in 50 year and over Turkish elderlys. This study showed that four point version of CDT has reliability and validity in Turkish elderly.
